About Us

NGO work is important because it helps poor and vulnerable people get education, skills, and support to live a better life.

Building Lives Foundation is a Chennai-based nonprofit organization working across Tamil Nadu and other parts of India, committed to transforming lives and creating hopeful futures for underprivileged families. We focus on educating, equipping, and empowering women, children, and youth to break the cycle of poverty and social disadvantage. Through women skill development programs, we help single and economically vulnerable women gain life skills, confidence, and sustainable livelihoods. Our education and vocational initiatives enable children and youth to access quality learning and job-ready skills. By addressing community challenges with compassion and purpose, we help individuals build dignity, independence, and a better future.

Children’s Day Celebration

Our organization celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm, bringing joy and learning to young minds. The event included fun activities, games, and cultural performances, encouraging creativity and participation. Children from various backgrounds, including marginalized and rural communities, joined in the celebrations. Special sessions were organized to highlight the importance of education, health, and personal development. The celebration created a memorable experience, fostering happiness, confidence, and a sense of community among the children.

Rural School Education Program

The English School, located in Katihar District, Bihar, provides quality education to children from marginalized communities, including farmers’ children, tribal children, and those affected by floods. Currently, 80 children are enrolled in the Kindergarten section, with 40–60 new students joining each year. The school also trains local youth, like Rinkaj, who improved his English skills and gained confidence as a trainee teacher. This program enhances foundational skills, boosts literacy, and fosters critical thinking, helping children overcome cycles of poverty. By targeting disadvantaged families, the school promotes educational equity, social mobility, and long-term community development.

Women Skill Development Program

Launched on 1 October 2024, the Women Skill Development Program empowers single women and those from financially weaker families by providing essential life and livelihood skills. Through 9 months of vocational training, including skills like Aari embroidery, women gain confidence, financial independence, and stable income opportunities. Each cycle benefits 80 women, including those affected by family alcoholism. Success stories like Sugantha, earning ₹5,000–₹8,000 per month, demonstrate the program’s impact. Our goal is for 70% of participants to achieve steady income within six months while enhancing their influence in household financial decisions.
